8th International Festival Of Boys Choirs And European Football Championship Of Boys Choirs
About the festival:
The 8th International Festival of Boys Choirs is a continuation of festivals initiated in the sixties by Jerzy Kurczewski - founder of the Poznan Boys Choir.
During this year's edition of the Festival, boys choirs meet not only on musical stages, but also on a football field, where they will fight for the title of European Football Champion of Boys Choirs. The championship is an official event accompanying Poznan's preparations for Euro 2012.
The organiser - Poznan Boys Choir, led by Jacek Sykulski - has this year invited four foreign choirs: Thomanerchor (Germany), Boni Pueri (Czech Republic), St. Michael's Boys' Choir (Estonia), Dagilelis (Lithuania), and two choirs from Poznan: "Poznanskie Slowiki" ("Poznan Nightingales") and the Poznan Cathedral Choir.
The idea of the Festival is not only to provide the Poznan audience with wonderful artistic impressions, but also to enable the boys -chorists - to combine two of their greatest passions: for music and for sports.
